LDA is seeking a course instructor for our Clinical Seminar #2.  A significant portion of this course will provide teacher candidates the opportunity to learn about the process of second language acquisition and about strategies to support the learning of students whose first language is not English. Teacher candidates will work with their LDA Mentor to demonstrate competency in many of the principles from the Harry Wong textbook including teaching of classroom procedures, demonstrating their discipline plan in action, and completing a lesson plan “cycle.”

Specifically, the Clinical Seminar 2 course (Education 201) furthers this knowledge through the following ways:

  • Provides teacher candidates the opportunity to develop a lesson plan that is inclusive of all learners in their classroom, keeping their student’s cultural backgrounds at the forefront of their lesson planning.
  • Provides teacher candidates the opportunity to refine their classroom management system, taking into account the cultural backgrounds of the students they are working with.
  • Provides teacher candidates the opportunity to videotape themselves interacting with students and evaluating themselves through a lens that includes diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
