LDA is seeking a course instructor to join our adjunct faculty team. The Clinical Seminar 1/Strategies course is part of LDA’s ABS licensure program.
The purpose of this course will be to provide candidates with methods and strategies for teaching students with mild and moderate disabilities (EBD, SLD, DCD, OHD, ASD). Candidates will participate in a variety of activities to demonstrate knowledge and skills to meet the academic and behavioral needs of learners at primary through secondary levels. Additionally, candidates will learn how to set positive expectations in the classroom, understand basic principles of classroom management, and understand their role as a teacher in Minnesota.
The course meets twice a month in a synchronous online session from November through December 2023. Asynchronous course content may also be delivered during the 8 week period.

Job Duties:
- Deliver LDA’s Clinical Seminar 1/Strategies course.
- Grade candidate assignments and assessments.
- Facilitate class content and discussions.
- The course meets from 9-12 am on Saturdays.
- There will be 4 in-person class meeting dates - 11/4; 11/18; 12/2; 12/16 with the expectation of asynchronous delivery between class dates.
- Class dates will be in-person at LDA in Golden Valley, MN
- The course pairing is a part of the ABS licensure at LDA.
Experience Desired:
- Minimum of Master's degree in Special Education or other related Education field.
- Current Special Education Teaching License.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience with students with diverse learning needs and disabilities.
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Leading teachers within a school setting
- Teaching at the college level teacher candidates
- Evidence of teaching adult learners.
- Providing training to groups of teachers, professionals, and/or parents.
- Familiarity with the Special Education system in P12 settings.
- Curriculum and/or lesson plan development using Universal Design for Learning.
