LDA has developed the following resources for instructional
and training purposes.
The Adult Reading Toolkit (The ART)
bridges current reading research with reality and practice.
The ART is designed for adult literacy providers who
recognize the wide range of reading needs of their adult
learners and want to do something about it.
Taking Action: A resource guide
for instructors serving ESL adults with learning difficulties
or learning disabilities is a 100+ page resource
guide that covers ESL trends, LD definitions and applications,
language acquisition, other factors that impact learning,
best practice strategies for ESL learners, and the influence
of pre-literacy. It also includes a screening interview
for ESL adults, a reading assessment for preliterate
adults, and an LDA pilot model for LD/ESL assessment.
Now What? a transition planning
tool designed for youth and adults with learning disabilities
or low level reading skills who are searching for career
guidance. Professionals and parents will find this tool
particularly useful.

to adult learners?

Now What?
Discovering Your Potential in Work and Life
is a transition planning workbook for high school students
and adults with LD to facilitate their planning for
future employment and education.
The Now What? workbook is designed not
only to assist students and adults realize their goals
but also to help case managers develop transition plans
to include in Individualized Education Plans (IEP's)
for their students. This resource is an excellent tool
to better meet IDEA and state or district education
standards while saving valuable time as well.
The workbook contains five sections: Career Interests,
Needs Awareness, Learning Styles, Work Skills/Styles,
and Next Step/Plans. Each section includes several worksheets,
discussion pages, and concludes with a student portfolio
page that can easily be used to generate a report for
