Asperger’s Syndrome and ADHD – Similarities and Differences
Asperger’s Syndrome (AS) is a form of high functioning autism that can occur with ADHD and often is responsible for a variety of subtle issues, including social problems. AS and ADHD also have overlapping symptoms such as executive function deficits in the brain. This presentation will give you a better understanding of children with ADHD and/or Asperger's and how to more effectively parent and teach these unique and wonderful children.

What are Learning Disabilities and ADHD?
Do you suspect that your child has a Learning Disability (LD) or/and ADHD? Has your child recently received a diagnosis of one or both of these disorders? This FREE workshop provides an overview for parents who are new to ADHD and LD. Learn the signs of these disorders, what your rights are under special education law, and how you can support your child and advocate for him or her at school. Attendees will receive a package of information and resources for addressing ADHD and LD. Held the third Thursday of each month.

Homework: From Hassles to Strategies

Parent Coaching: Transforming the Challenging Child NEW!
Ever wonder why typical parenting, therapy, and teaching techniques don’t work with some children? What Martial Arts Can Do for Children with ADHD
Parents and children attend this workshop together. Join us for this fun, alternative treatment of symptoms related to ADHD. Participate in a complex, focus-intensive sport such as martial arts, and learn the benefits of the brainbody connection. A black belt karate instructor will teach both parents and their children specific movements to improve focus and attention. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket or a mat.

members. Support groups: $20 per person/session. Call
us for discount rates for 5 or more persons registering

Register Early! Advance
registration and payment are strongly advised.
Workshops and/or support groups without sufficient advance
registration are subject to cancellation on noon of
the business day before the scheduled workshop/support
group.
Registration and Refund Policy: Refunds will
be granted for cancellations received by phone (952.922.8374),
in writing, or by email (info@ldaminnesota.org) no later
than 48 hours before the workshop or support group meeting.
Canceling less than 48 hours before the event will result
in loss of registration fee. LDA Minnesota reserves

Personal Parent Coaching Series Description
What is Small Group Parent Coaching?
It’s a customized opportunity to hone your skills with any child,
any age, for whom typical parenting and teaching techniques
have proven ineff ective. These include children with ADHD, ODD,
Tourette’s Syndrome, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Attachment
Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Giftedness, and others who need extra
intervention, but have no diagnosis.
Coaching can help you:
• Learn valuable techniques and apply them, whenever or wherever
you are with any child
• Gain a sense of peace and calm in the child’s presence
• Gain control over the classroom or home environment
• Take pride in the fact that your child/student feels successful
• Witness the child’s dramatically increased sense of esteem and
empowerment
